2021 was a standout  year in the Eagle Foothills and our 2021 GSM (52% Grenache / 36% Mourvèdre / 12% Syrah) is no exception to the rule. The rare vine cuttings came from the storied CdP estate, Château de Beaucastel, in France and are thriving in our sandy/loamy soil.  

This very special wine marries boisterous and fruity Grenache with brooding and peppery Mourvèdre and Syrah. 

With aromas of earth and violets and flavors of blackberry and espresso this Syrah displays velvety texture balanced with a peppery finish.

Named in deference to the many great Tawny Port wines from Portugal, 3 Horse Ranch Vineyards has for several years been developing our version of this delicious wine. Made from Syrah grapes using authentic, traditional techniques, we are proud to introduce our first bottling of Homage!

The Syrah black fruit tones of plums, currants and blackberries are present and The Mourvèdre element is strong this year, bringing vibrancy and power. It's firmly savoury, very dry and dramatic. .The vineyard notes of earth, straw, mushrooms, and stone minerals are more recognizable with maturation in the cellar. The pepper, allspice, cloves, cedar, nutmeg and oak tannins all perfectly complement.  This wine keeps on giving and giving! It still remains as one of the standout fan favorites at the tasting room, for seasoned veterans and wine newbies alike! The 2014 Syrah from our backdoor vineyards at 3 Horse Ranch in the Eagle Foothills AVA (Winegrowing Appellation) is perhaps the finest wine we have produced to date. 2014 was an excellent vintage for Idaho, with near perfect growing and harvesting conditions. The fruit came in fully ripe, with well developed elegant tannins. This Syrah was partially matured in New French Oak, to add to its mouthfeel, finish and cellar life. This wine is drinking spot-on now, but will continue to gain complexity for the next five to ten years! Do what we do at the Ranch: Pull the cork and put it to use! Also, Idaho Syrah really makes the meal for ANY season, with notes of pepper, allspice, currants, licorice, smoked meats and leather! Thank You from @3HorseRanch ! 🤠🍷🍇
